Medical students from other institutions in their final year of medical school may apply to take an elective at UTMB through the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS). Please note that the VSAS service is only available to medical students enrolled at U.S. LCME or COCA accredited schools.
(Note: UTMB only accepts medical students in their final year of school. Also, Students in Fifth Pathway programs are not eligible to participate in electives as Visiting Medical Students.)
If you are a medical student enrolled at a medical school outside the United States, you may apply for a visiting medical student rotation ONLY if your school has an affiliation agreement with UTMB (this includes U.S. citizens attending non-U.S. medical schools).
We encourage you to contact your home institution if you have questions about affiliation agreements with U.S. schools, or attending school in the U.S., and wish you success in locating a school that can accept you.
Note: If you are an international student applying to take an elective at UTMB, your institution has a current affiliation with UTMB, and you are in you final year of school, you are welcome to apply at UTMB. Please note that students in Fifth Pathway programs are not eligible to participate in electives as visiting medical students.
If you are an international student and attend an affiliated institution, please click here.
