About the Office of Student Diversity, Health, Inclusion, and Equity

The UTMB Health Office of Student Diversity, Health, Inclusion, and Equity respects and values the inherent worth of everyone from all races, ethnic backgrounds, ages, genders, religions, sexual orientations, disabilities, economic or veteran status, and other diverse perspectives and individual differences.

We are committed to tolerance, sensitivity, understanding, and mutual respect across our campuses and within our community, and are committed to providing a welcoming place for all.

The Office of Student Diversity, Health, Inclusion, and Equity focuses its efforts on the recruitment, retention, and advancement of a group of diverse students underrepresented in the health sciences, who will reflect the population of Galveston and the state of Texas.  In addition, our aim is to increase workforce diversity through various program initiatives.  Collaborative efforts will be directed towards increasing diversity and inclusion across the continuum of health professions and graduate medical education.
