Texas Brain Economy Summit

The Texas Brain Economy Summit convened nearly 600 leaders spanning academia, healthcare, government, industry, venture capital, philanthropy, and nonprofit organizations.

The audience included more than 50 CEOs and presidents, over 100 executive and senior leaders, representatives from leading universities and health systems, Fortune 500 companies, global investors, and policymakers — all focused on advancing brain health, innovation, and economic growth. This event was hosted by the UTMB Office of Innovation in partnership with the Center for Houston's Future and Project Metis.

The day began with remarks from Dr. Vineet Gupta emphasizing the transition from scientific discovery to real-world implementation. The focus was on building brain capital through innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic collaboration.

A major summit milestone was the announcement of the Nature Medicine Commission, presented by Dr. Jochen Reiser and Dr. Harris Eyre, highlighting an international commitment to advancing brain health through collaborative research and policy leadership.

The summit concluded with a panel featuring David Gow, Dr. Harris Eyre, and Dr. Vineet Gupta, who reflected on the discussions and outlined a collective vision for advancing the brain economy through continued collaboration among academia, healthcare, government, industry, and philanthropy.
