Regional Family Medicine Residency Research Symposium

Invited Programs

The Regional Family Medicine Research Symposium is an annual event supported by Galveston-Houston area family medicine residency programs, including:

  • Baylor College of Medicine
  • Memorial Hermann Health System
  • Methodist Hospital
  • University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
  • University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston
Residents and fellows are invited to present posters and/or oral presentations on clinical research, evidence-based reviews, quality improvement projects, case reports, community projects, or educational/curriculum development they have participated in.   

Call for Abstracts

Family Medicine residents from the invited programs are encouraged to submit abstracts for poster presentations. Residents who have submitted outstanding abstract submissions may be invited to give an oral presentation. 

The call for abstracts for the 2021 symposium is March 5-31, 2021. All abstracts are due April 1.  Check back for link to submission site during the call window.

Registration

To facilitate a smooth registration process, program coordinators should register all of their residents, fellows, faculty and staff at the same time.  Registration deadlines for the 2021 symposium will be April 1, 2021.

Cost

There will be NO cost for the 2021 participating residency programs.

The History of the Annual Regional Family Medicine Resident Research Symposium

Each year this symposium will showcase the research activities of family medicine residents and fellows from programs in the Houston-Galveston regional area.  The symposium is hosted by different programs each year and each program is invited to participate by the host university. 

2020 Symposium

The 2020 symposium was planned to be hosted by the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston on Saturday, May 16, 2020. However, in order to comply with stay-at-home and social distancing requirements, the symposium was cancelled for 2020.

2019 Symposium

The 2019 symposium was hosted by the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the UT Health McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. For more information, visit https://med.uth.edu/familymedicine/

2018 Symposium

The 2018 symposium was hosted by the Baylor College of Medicine's Family Medicine Residency Program on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9:30am to 4:30pm. For more information, visit https://www.bcm.edu/departments/family-and-community-medicine/education/family-medicine
