A Personal Note from Dr. Johnson
I was born on Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma, and I was raised in Bossier City, Louisiana. Although I am new to Texas, I am very grateful to start residency at UTMB Galveston!
I attended Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans for my undergraduate degree, where I majored in Biology. After completing my undergraduate degree, I began medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA.
I have always known I wanted to become a family physician. I love the concept of building relationships with patients over the span of their lifetime. Throughout medical school, I was afforded opportunities to learn from physicians who treated the whole patient, mind body, and spirit. Family physicians have the great reputation of being physicians who become like family all while providing awesome, quality healthcare.
My intention is to use all of my life experiences and clinical knowledge to be a family physician whose patients will be proud to say, “that’s my doctor”: an advocate and confidant. During my residency training, I plan to develop to be a well-rounded physician by continuing to work with under-served populations, and foster my interests in preventative health, women’s health, urgent care, and being a mentor to students in medicine.
In my free time, I love spending time with my family, reading, singing, traveling, and completing Do-It-Yourself projects.
