A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. AZUOGU
I was born and raised in Missouri City, Texas. I attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where I studied Exercise Science. After completing my undergraduate degree I ventured out of Texas to attend Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.
While in medical school I was drawn to family medicine. I knew that family medicine would allow me to serve a diverse patient population and give me the flexibility of practicing medicine in a variety of settings.
Although I enjoyed my time in Nashville, I ultimately desired to return home to Texas. When looking for a residency program, I explored programs that would support and encourage me to reach my full potential - a place that would not just see me as a number, but would take the time to cultivate my skills and medical acumen. I feel fortunate to be at UTMB- not just because of their reputation of producing excellent Family physicians- but because this program was everything I was looking for.
