Recognition for Ambulatory Operations

Congratulations to our Ambulatory Operations team on their success during this month's Joint Commission triennial survey. The surveyors visited more than 45 clinics, including a virtual tour of McAllen RWSP clinic site.

They were impressed with the expansive scope of services offered in the Ambulatory setting.  One surveyor shared strong compliments for several areas, in particular the Galveston chemotherapy unit, where a surveyor, an oncology nurse, stated, “I would feel 100% safe getting my care here.” This was noted multiple times in many clinics, including the Eye Center locations in Friendswood and Victory Lakes.

The surveyors also commented that our staff attended to feedback promptly, so items noted as needing correction were seen less frequently as the survey continued. Other items the surveyors complimented were:

  • Patient educational materials in a procedure consent in Women’s
  • High-level disinfection process being standard everywhere the surveyor went with the red and green bins for instrument transportation
  • Great vaccine process in Texas Vaccine Clinics for Children sites, with staff communicating clearly about updates to the Vaccine Information Statements process
  • Trophon and Medivator cleaning processes, where we have been cited before, had no citations

Overall, our system had a low number of findings, with only a small fraction within Ambulatory Operations. This is outstanding!

We greatly appreciate our Ambulatory Operations team’s hard work and cooperation to represent our strong commitment to outstanding patient care and service.
