Introducing the 'No Pass Zone' Initiative

As part of our continued commitment to patient safety and exceptional patient experience, we are pleased to announce the launch of the “No Pass Zone” initiative across all inpatient care areas beginning March 23, 2026.

The Hospital Quality Institute defines the “No Pass Zone” as a concept originally developed to enhance the patient experience by ensuring quick and effective responses to patient needs. A patient’s overall experience includes our ability to keep them safe from harm, and this initiative reinforces our shared responsibility to respond when a patient requires assistance.

All inpatient care areas will be designated as “No Pass Zones,” meaning any staff member who notices a patient in need should respond promptly or ensure the appropriate team member is notified.

This initiative is a key component of our system-wide fall prevention and patient safety efforts.

To support this rollout, all staff will be required to complete a new Annual Online Training Module, available beginning March 23, 2026, with completion required by April 30, 2026.

Goals of the No Pass Zone initiative include:

  • Reducing patient falls
  • Improving the overall patient experience
  • Promoting a patient-first culture across our teams
  • Reducing response times to patient needs

Thank you for your continued commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. By working together and responding to patient needs in real time, we strengthen our culture of safety and service for every patient we serve.
