Día de los Muertos recognizes death as a natural part of the human experience. On Día de los Muertos, the dead are also a part of the community, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with their loved ones. Assured that the dead would be insulted by mourning or sadness, we will celebrate the lives of the deceased with traditional music, poem reciting, and delicious conchas (Mexican sweet bread).

We would like for this to be an interactive and collaborative event. Therefore, if you would like to have pictures of your family member or friend that have since departed displayed on our Día de los Muertos altar, please use the following URL to review instructions on how to upload a digital photo to the following Google form: tinyurl.com/5eswj53t.

As part of our Día De Los Muertos celebration, LMSA is taking poem submissions. You can either submit your own poem, or one that you feel best encompasses what this day means to you. Use this URL to review instructions and requirements for the poem competition created by the LMSA Language & Literature Committee. Awards will be given to top 3 student submissions: tinyurl.com/yv8dzc8e.

We cannot wait to see you all soon!
