5th Annual Center of Excellence in Health Equity, Training and Research Summer Research Summit!

Baylor College of Medicine is excited to announce registration is open for the 5th Annual Center of Excellence in Health Equity, Training and Research Summer Research Summit! This national conference will take place via Whova on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. This year’s theme is Academic-Community Partnerships: Change Agents for Advancing Health Equity. There will also be a free, pre-conference day (May 16th) focused on student and trainee research presentations. We would appreciate your help to spread the word to faculty, staff, trainees, students and community members in your area.

The conference is open to physicians, physician assistants, nurses, social workers and other healthcare professionals, medical residents and fellows, biomedical scientists, population health researchers, healthcare system leaders, healthcare policymakers, students, academics, non-profit organization and community members and others who are committed to workforce diversity in the health and biomedical sciences and bringing quality healthcare to underserved and under-represented populations in the United States.

Call for Conference Session Proposals – Deadline April 1, 2022

We are soliciting proposals for one-hour plenary and concurrent sessions connected with the annual theme and overall learning objectives for the conference. Proposals should be thought-provoking, and accessible to a broad technical and lay audience. Click here for more information and access to the submission form. We are particularly interested in proposals that address one of the following areas:

  • Developing and Sustaining Health Equity Oriented Academic-Community Partnerships 
  • Academic-Community Partner-Based Participatory Health Equity Research
  • Health Equity Public Policy Change and Advocacy through Academic-Community Partnerships 
  • Academic-Community Partnerships to Improve Health Professions Education Curriculum 
  • Effective Assessment in Health Equity Oriented Academic-Community Partnerships 

Call for Research Abstracts – Deadline April 15, 2022

Each year, we host a poster session for presentation of original research dedicated to workforce diversity and health equity issues. It includes a poster competition for abstracts in the categories of student-led, trainee-led, faculty/staff-led and community organization/government-led projects.
