Leadership Moment with Dr. Tim Harlin

Welcome to the first edition of Health System Heartbeat, the newsletter for the UTMB Health System family.

Each month, the newsletter will feature stories and photos about you, the people who keep our hospitals and clinics running, who create nurturing and positive patient experiences, who make all the difference in the health and wellbeing of the people in the communities UTMB serves.

As you probably read in a message sent earlier this month signed by Becky Korenek, Dr. Mouton and me, UTMB overall ended FY2022 on a strong note.

What better time, then, to recognize and celebrate the Health System staff? Each of you touch lives, often save lives, in one way or another every day you come here to work. The work is hard, sometimes heart-wrenching, often exhausting. But it is always challenging and, I hope, fulfilling to you on a personal and professional level.

What you do makes a very real difference – to individual patients, to families, to communities. You bring the best UTMB has to offer to their doorsteps, their bedsides, their schools, their gatherings.

For that, the Health System leadership is so proud. And so thankful. We are thankful for your passion, your dedication and the excellence with which you do your jobs and answer your calling to provide the best care possible at all times.

So, I invite you to celebrate…you. And your colleagues. That’s what Heartbeat is all about.

I invite you to contribute, as well. There are plenty of opportunities to share photos, stories, story ideas and other information, as you’ll see as you click through. And please, let us know how you feel about the newsletter by completing this survey.

Thank you again for all you do. You truly are the heartbeat of the UTMB Health System.

Sincerely,

Tim
