UTMB Speakers’ Bureau
The UTMB Speakers’ Bureau can provide your organization with expert speakers on a variety of health care related topics ranging from health promotion or medical careers to health care reform and the latest in biomedical research.
Project Medical Education
Gain a greater understanding of medical education and the role of academic medical centers by taking part in a one-day crash course in medical school. The course is open to policy makers and others whose actions impact the education of health care professionals and the operations of teaching hospitals like UTMB.
Health Policy Dialogues
This annual lecture series co-sponsored by HPLA and the UTMB Office of the President helps educate medical students and the public alike on the politics of healthcare. National, regional and local experts are invited to campus for a live lecture, Q&A session and lunch.
State Employee Charitable Campaign
UTMB employees have donated millions of dollars over the years to help those in their communities who are less fortunate. Community Relations staff members work with a committee of UTMB employees to coordinate the annual State Employee Charitable Campaign on the UTMB campus.
Celebrating Women: Mind, Body, Spirit
The annual Galveston women’s conference is co-sponsored by UTMB and the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce. The conference provides participants a day filled with personal and professional development opportunities. The annual event features a number of UTMB experts in health care, education and biomedical research along with nationally recognized speakers with a variety of expertise in areas of interest to women of all ages.
Galveston Youth Leadership Awards
The annual Galveston Youth Leadership Awards organized by UTMB recognize outstanding local high school seniors for their academic success, cultural awareness, physical fitness and service to the Galveston community. The highly competitive awards provide first, second and third place winners with cash awards donated by local family foundations.
Oceans of Opportunities Job Fair
UTMB partners with the office of our U.S. Representative, the City of Galveston, the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Galveston Economic Development Partnership and Workforce Solutions to host an annual springtime job fair open to residents and students in Galveston and beyond.
Galveston holds the distinction of being the site of the first reading of President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation in the southern U.S. UTMB helps commemorate this extraordinary moment with an annual event on the grounds of the city’s historic Ashton Villa where the original reading of the proclamation was held.
UTMB joins with the City of Galveston Family, Children and Youth Board to coordinate this annul education awareness event highlighting educational opportunities and student accomplishments.
UTMB Earth Day
UTMB is dedicated to conserving and preserving the environment. Employees from across campus gather each Earth Day in the Moody Medical Library Plaza to learn how they can support UTMB’s extensive conservation efforts.
