Effective September 1, 2012, the Office of Institutional Compliance (OIC) is pleased to announce the addition of the Records Management department to our team. The principal mission of the OIC is to promote compliance with all applicable legal requirements, foster and help ensure ethical conduct, and provide education, training, and guidance to all employees and faculty.
The OIC will support and assist with Records Managements’ primary mission of efficient, effective, and economical management of UTMB records and information. Proper records management ensures that information is available when and where it is needed, in an organized and efficient manner, and in an appropriate environment. Records management seeks to manage and control records throughout their life cycle according to state laws and institutional policy, from their creation and distribution, through their filing and use, and ultimately to their final disposition or permanent retention.
