Specimen Requirements:

One slide should be immediately placed in 95% ethanol.  One slide should be air-dried and placed in dry slide container.  Endobrush end should be snipped and placed in a ThinPrep PreservCyt vial.  Pertinent clinical information must be included when ordering. Slides must be labeled in pencil (frosted end) with patient's full name and medical record number.

Causes for Rejection:

Incomplete and/or improper labeling, insufficient pertinent clinical history, specimen not fixed on slide immediately, no collection information.

Specimens are accepted Monday-Friday from 8 AM-5 PM (except holidays) at Room 4.610, Clinical Services Wing (CSW). After hours specimens should be dropped off at sample managment on the 7th floor CSW

Components of the organ or disease panels may be ordered individually. The diagnostic information must substantiate all tests ordered and must be in the form of an ICD-10 code or its verbal equivalent.
