Specimen Requirements:

10mL of Fasting concentrated urine specimens are the preferred specimens. However, if chyluria is suspected, a postprandial specimen (1-2 hours) should also be examined.  Disposable, 4.5 oz specimen container.

Minimum Volume:

Min.: 1mL of urine

Storage/Transport:

Refrigerate specimen after collection.

Causes for Rejection:

Specimen collected in container with a preservative, improperly labeled specimen, improper storage/transport.

Reference Range:

By report (reports may vary based on instrumentation, patient age and sex)

Turnaround Time:

Routine: 8 hours; ASAP: 4 STAT: 1 hour
