Specimen Requirements:
Collection:

Routine venipuncture. Collect sample immediately prior to next dose. Collect 7 mL of blood in red-topped tube. Do not use SST/serum separator tube.(Min.: 3 mL of blood).

Storage/Transport:

Centrifuge specimen within 2 hours after collection. Remove serum from cellular material within 2 hours after collection. Place serum in labeled plastic transport tube. Refrigerate serum aliquot at 2-8°C.

Stability:

Room Temperature 18–28 °C (64–82°F) ≤ 24 hours, Refrigerated 2–8°C (36–46°F) ≤14 days, and Frozen ≤ -20°C (≤ -4°F) ≤14 days

Causes for Rejection:

Blood collected in a SST/gel separator tube, gross hemolysis, improperly labeled specimen, improper storage/transport, and QNS specimen
