Special instructions:

1. Obtain transport medium is Michel's solution from laboratory prior to biopsy.

2. Contact Surgical Pathology Gross Room at 409-772-2855

3. Orders must be submitted through Beaker with the specimen source, clinical history and diagnosis.

4. The requisition form should clearly indicate "FOR IMMUNOFLUORESCENCE"

Tissue is placed in Michel's solution which can be obtained from the Surgical Pathology Gross Room 2.186 John Sealy Annex.


Vial with Michel's solution obtained from Surgical Pathology Gross Room.


Tissue biopsy is placed in Michel's solution.  Specimen should be labeled with the patient's first and last names, unit history number and specimen source.  It is to be delivered immediately to the Surgical Pathology Gross Room.  Short term storage at 4 ºC if necessary.  DO NOT FREEZE AND DO NOT PLACE IN FORMALIN.

Causes for Rejection:

Specimen placed in formalin or other fixative, sample not stored appropriately, insufficient identification, incomplete request form (pink sheet) or order not pladed in Beaker.
