Prior to the procedure the physician should contact the Surgical Pathology Gross Room, 2.186 John Sealy Annex, 409-772-2855.   

 

Test Included:

Gross and microscopic examination with diagnosis.

Collection:

The neuropathologist on call must be paged prior to surgery.

Minimum Volume:

Storage/Transport:

Tissue must be submitted immediately in fresh state.  Tissue must not be immersed in saline or formalin.

Specimen Preparation:

Obtain detailed instructions from the neuropathologist on call.

Causes for Rejection:

Please see special instructions.  Insufficient identification and/or contaminated container.  Specimen should be ordered through Beaker and must include the specimen source, clinical history and diagnosis.
