Mission-Critical: Conversations on the Future of Improving Health

The 2019 Mondays in March program will be a series of panel discussions, featuring UTMB leaders at the forefront of guiding our institution in an era of rapid and significant change.  

The sessions—which will take place March 4, March 11, March 18 and March 25—begin at noon in Levin Hall Auditorium on the Galveston Campus. Can’t be there in person? Remote viewing options will be available, and all sessions will be recorded and posted to this site.

  • Monday, March 4—The Case for Growth

    To kick off the 2019 Mondays in March series, this session will cover how academic health science centers do business and what is driving the tremendous changes we and our counterparts are facing. Learn why we’re pursuing more partnerships and hear about the steps we’re taking to ensure we have the capacity in our programs and facilities to respond to—and drive—changes that improve health.

How is UTMB addressing these fundamental shifts in how our nation’s approach to maintaining and improving health? How is UTMB uniquely positioned to harness the power of this (r)evolution? What do we see for the future and how will we prepare?

    Our education and research enterprises form the foundation of our mission to improve health. How do changes in how care is provided affect how we train the next generation of scientists and caregivers? How is UTMB preparing for—and leading—these changes? How are we working to provide the support our faculty need to drive progress in their respective fields? How does the evolving landscape inform our approach to research? How do we maintain our legacy of discovery in a challenging funding environment?

    UTMB’s executive leaders will provide brief updates on our financial performance to date, as well as Best Care and other major priorities. They’ll offer their thoughts on the previous panel discussions and take questions from the audience.
