Dr. Yusra Siddiqui is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Although born in Chicago, she considers herself a native Texan completing her education through residency in Texas. She received her Bachelors in Science in Psychology from the University of Houston and her Medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She then completed her General Medicine Internship and Ophthalmology Residency at UTMB. During residency she received the Silver Scalpel Award for excellence in surgical skills. Following this, Dr. Siddiqui pursued fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery through Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
Dr. Siddiqui sees a variety of ophthalmic conditions including cataracts,
dry eye, and corneal problems including keratoconus, corneal dystrophies
(ex. Fuch's dystrophy), pterygium, trauma, ulcers and scars. She
performs standard and refractive cataract surgery, corneal transplants
including PKP, DSAEK and DMEK, as well as corneal cross-linking. She is
board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and speaks
English, some Urdu, Hindi and Spanish.
