Tables that are pulled out from the wall expose young children to falling off the backside, take up lots of space in the exam room, and create a stretch to the wall units.

In general, auscultation of the heart and palpation of the abdomen should be performed first, before the child starts crying. On the other hand, examination of the throat is not hindered by crying. Leave the diaper area for last.
