How should you approach deciding what "things" will Brian need at home?

  1. With Brian's mother, make a list of all the items Brian uses routinely, and write a prescription for each.

  2. Ask the hospital social worker to make a list.

  3. (Correct) At the next case conference ask staff person involved to compose a list.  Add the medical equipment you would prefer such as a home monitor, pulse oximeter, suction machine if no one else has included these items.

Therapists and physicians, in conjunction with family members, should determine what durable medical equipment the patient will need at home.  This is fairly routine for the therapists, but a review by a member of the medical team will hopefully prevent overlooking items for which no particular therapist takes ownership.
