Notification

The HIPAA Privacy Rule requires a covered entity to give a notice, explaining the Rule,  to every individual with direct treatment relationships.

A mother brings her baby  for a well child exam. At registration, the mother states that, after this visit, she will be transferring the baby’s care to a doctor’s office closer to home.  As the office is running low on printed notices and she is leaving the practice anyway, the front office staff directs the mother to read the wall mounted notice. Is this a breach of the HIPAA Privacy Rule?
