Musaad Alshammari, BS

Musaad was born in Kuwait, where he spent the first 16 years of his life with his family before moving to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He received his bachelor degree in pharmaceutical sciences from King Saud University in 2008. After graduation, he worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at King Saud University.

Musaad joined UTMB in 2011, as a graduate student in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Master's program. He currently works in Dr. Fernanda Laezza's lab. His project primarily emphasizes on the role of the intracellular fibroblast growth factor 14 (iFGF14) in regulating the synaptic transmission in specific brain areas, including hippocampus and prefrontal cortex in transgenic mouse models.
