Jonathan M. Starkey, MD, PhD

Dr. Starkey utilizes electronic health records for medical and public health research. He has an MD from University of Texas Southwestern, completed an internship in internal medicine at Parkland Hospital and received his PhD at UTMB in Clinical Sciences where he focused on biomedical informatics. He completed a fellowship in biomedical informatics from the National Library of Medicine training program. He has performed translational research across the translational spectrum from basic science research in endocrinology to health informatics research in women’s health. Research interests include endocrinology, nephrology and women’s health. He currently serves as the informatics liaison to the National Center for the Advancement of Translational Sciences as part of his duties in the Institute for Translational Sciences. He works on improving the clinical trial accrual processes at UTMB by developing methods and processes for feasibility studies and recruitment, Dr. Starkey enables services for researchers at UTMB including i2b2, REDCap and Open Specimen..
