Effective Oct. 14, 2019, the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health (PMCH) will be known as Preventive Medicine and Population Health (PMPH).

The new name reflects UTMB's growing expertise in and emphasis on activities involving population health improvement and population health management. “Preventive Medicine” is retained in the department name to recognize its rich history of work in that field and to highlight the importance of our Public Health Program, community-based research, Aerospace Medicine Residency Program and other clinical related activities.

We are excited for the great work PMPH will undoubtedly continue to do, as its outstanding faculty, staff and trainees work together to apply interdisciplinary solutions to promote health for all.

Sincerely yours,

Charles P. Mouton, MD, MS, MBA
