Health
Although 2011 presented a number of financial challenges to Texas and all agencies
that receive state funding, UTMB’s 11,800 employees worked together to ensure the
university’s financial health in order to have resources to reinvest in and advance our
vital mission.
This was achieved through a multifaceted strategy to increase revenue and carefully
manage expenditures throughout UTMB. In addition, multidisciplinary teams in the
Health System and Business & Finance helped increase efficiency by analyzing,
streamlining and improving day-to-day processes. The 16 projects completed thus
far have reduced waste and costs, increased value for those we serve and improved
employee satisfaction. Additional projects are on tap for the coming year.
The result of all of these efforts is an increasingly resilient university and regional
health care resource.
