Stroke Length of Stay

The term length of stay in health care refers to the period of time (in days) that spans from when a patient was admitted to the hospital to the time they are discharged. At UTMB Health, we use length of stay index to compare ourselves to other hospitals. Lower numbers are better.

UTMB’s length of stay index for patients with stroke is higher (worse) than 1.00 meaning that stroke patients stayed in the hospital longer than expected in 2015. UTMB’s LOS index for this condition was also higher (worse) than our Academic Medical Center Peers' average.
