The Neuroradiology section consists of 3 Fellowship trained Neuroradiologists, including an experienced and fellowship trained Interventional Neuroradiologist. The Neuroradiology Section supports 2 ACGME accredited fellowship positions per year.

Our mission is to provide skilled and compassionate care for patients in a setting of academic excellence.

Our areas of expertise include: Imaging and Interventional Therapy of Neurovascular Disorders such as stroke, brain and spine aneurysms and vascular malformations.

CT, MRI and advanced Neuroimaging including Perfusion, Diffusion, Spectroscopy, DTI and Functional neuroimaging for brain tumors, stroke, dementias, epilepsy and movement disorders.

Imaging and interventional therapy for head and neck disorders including head and neck cancer, disorders of hearing, sinus disease, orbit and ophthalmologic diseases and other head and neck conditions.

Imaging and interventional therapy for Spine disorders including tumors, infections, traumatic injury, vascular malformations and degenerative disease.

We participate in numerous weekly interdisciplinary conferences providing a collaborative approach to provide skilled and high quality care for our patients.

Neurointerventional Radiology

UTMB is a DNV certified comprehensive stroke center providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic Neuroendovascular procedures. We perform cerebral and spinal angiography, endovascular treatment of Stroke, aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, percutaneous treatment of head and neck vascular malformations, myelography and manage spinal pain using minimally invasive techniques that provide precision therapy using state of the art technologies and clinical techniques.

Advanced Neuroimaging

Advanced imaging techniques including diffusion tensor imaging, fMRI, CT/MR perfusion, spectroscopy. Neuroquant software is available for quantitative analysis of Dementia and epilepsy. Intraoperative MRI is also available and we work closely with our Neurosurgery colleagues to provide this advanced functionality.

UTMB's Department of Radiology is accredited by the American College of Radiology in: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Nuclear Medicine, and Ultrasound. It is also recognized as a Center of Excellence for Breast Imaging.
