The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is recruiting a senior faculty member in the Division of Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Health Professions (SHP). The Division administratively supports the PhD program in Rehabilitation Sciences, which is part of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The division also recruits postdoctoral fellows who engage in research involving disability, rehabilitation, and recovery. A strong interdisciplinary relationship exists with other schools, centers, and departments on campus, as well as local clinical facilities and UTMB hospitals.
Necessary qualifications include a doctoral degree in a field related to rehabilitation and disability. The ideal candidate will have postdoctoral and professional research experience in a rehabilitation-related discipline. Candidates must have: an established program of research related to rehabilitation, disability and recovery; experience mentoring students, postdoctoral fellows and/or junior faculty; a sustained record of external research funding; established history of collaborative research; and, national visibility and recognition evidenced by service on editorial boards, federal grant review panels, or fellow status in professional or scientific organizations.
Responsibilities include: conducting interdisciplinary research and scholarship designed to advance rehabilitation science; publishing in high-quality journals and writing competitive research grants that contribute to the infrastructure of the Division and PhD program; and establishing collaborative research relationships with investigators in other academic departments and local facilities involved in providing rehabilitation services and conducting research related to disability, rehabilitation, and recovery. The potential for an endowed professorship exists for candidates with a background in neurological rehabilitation and recovery.
