  • Provost, CRO and Asso. Research Officer issue Suspension Guidance

    On Thursday, April 2, Drs. Mouton, Urban and Niesel, together, issued guidance to Deans, Department Chairs and others on suspension of all non-COVID-19 lab work. The guidance states what labs should do to properly prepare for the Friday, April 3, 6 pm, closure of the campus to essential personnel only. Also included is guidance on COVID-19 labs should a team member test positive for COVID-19. Please review these guidelines carefully.

  • IRB abbreviates changes in response to COVID-19 emergency

    The UTMB IRB has made it easier to make a change to your approved IRB study to continue your research during the COVID crisis. A new abbreviated eForm in InfoED called COVID-19 Amendment will help facilitate the addition of remote procedures or planned missed study visits. The eForm can be found in InfoED under the Submission page of your study record.

  • BARDA COVID-19 Funding Summary

    There has been interest among UTMB COVID-19 researchers in pursuing funding from BARDA, however the BARDA website is difficult to navigate and not user friendly. To alleviate these difficulties, Dr. Karon Cassidy, Sr. Manager of Research Operations for the Sealy Center for Structural Biology, reviewed the BARDA website and developed a summary.

  • NIH Updates Late Policy - Again!

    NIH will accommodate applicants who, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, cannot submit their application on or before the posted deadline. Any application with a dues date between March 9 and May 1, 2020 can be submitted by May 1 and be reviewed in the Aug/Sept review period. If you cannot submit by May 1, the applicant will have to wait for the Oct/Nov review period.

This means that UTMB faculty interested in preparing a new collaborative pre-proposal with faculty from another GCC institution have until April 30 to submit that pre-proposal.
