Stuart Geman, Brown University,  presents  Universal Binding, in conjunction with the Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience 15th Annual Conference. Upcoming Seminar speakers include: Dorit Donoviel, Baylor College of Medicine (2/2) and David Reiner, Texas A&M Health Science Center-IBT (2/16) . Seminar at 4pm. Networking and refreshments will follow at 5pm, BioScience Research Collaborative, 6500 Main St. Seminars are free and open to the public.

GCC for Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience 15th Annual Conference, January 26

Confirmed speakers include Stuart Geman, James Manning Professor of Applied Mathematics, Brown University; Cristina Savin, Assistant Professor of Neural Science and Data Science, New York University Center for Data Science; Shaul Druckman, Visiting Scientist and Group Leader, Janelia Research Campus; and Robert Rosenbaum, Assistant Professor of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics, University of Notre Dame.  The conference and poster session will be at the BioScience Research Collaborative, 6500 Main St.  Organizers are Fabrizio Gabbiani, Baylor College of Medicine; Krešimir Josić, University of Houston; Xaq Pitkow, Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine; Harel Shouval, UT Health Science Center.  Registration Questions, contact Karen Ethun.

Summer Undergraduate Fellowship in Computational Cancer Biology

The GCC’s Computational Cancer Biology Training Program is again offering a 10-week summer undergraduate program at the Texas Medical Center, funded by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). Rising sophomore, junior, and senior undergraduates will have the opportunity to gain a hands-on interdisciplinary outlook on the problems presented in fundamental cancer research, while interacting with current Computational Cancer Biology Training Program postdoctoral fellows, attending talks and a short course on responsible conduct of research, and participating in an end of summer multi-disciplinary judged poster session. Program dates are  May 30 - August 3, 2018.  US Citizens or Permanent Residents eligible. 1st place winner of the Association of American Medical Colleges 2017 Innovations in Research and Research Education Award, this exciting workshop brings together highly acclaimed experts in rigor and reproducibility in research topics including data analysis, experimental design, resource sharing, publication and reporting, and more.  With speakers and facilitators from all 7 of our GCC institutions, this interactive workshop has proven to be very effective as well as a lot of fun.  Registration.

Save the date: NMR and Cell Tracking Symposium, May 16

Sponsored by the GCC Consortium for Magnetic Resonance, this symposium will take place at the Bioscience Research Collaborative on May 16th from 8:30 to 5 pm.  Confirmed speakers include Eric Ahrens, UCSD and Craig Malloy, UTSW.  Additionally, local speakers will discuss current NMR methods and highlight existing resources and technologies available in GCC institutions.  More information soon.
