Program overview

The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's Visiting IBD Research Fellowship (VIRF) is a program designed to promote career advancement for talented junior investigators dedicated to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research, and to enable knowledge-sharing among leaders in the IBD field. The Foundation encourages outstanding young scientists and clinicians who would like to expand their expertise in IBD research to participate in this short-term research training (3–12 weeks), carried out in a cutting-edge, NIH-funded laboratory under the mentorship of a leader in IBD research. VIRF is supported through an independent educational program grant from Gilead Sciences, Inc.

Who can apply?
Junior faculty and fellows (clinical or research), authorized to work in the United States.

Who can be the host/mentor?
• Primary investigator in a NIH-funded laboratory
• Senior research scientist, specializing in IBD research, or technology that can be applied to IBD
