CDMRP Releases more FY19 Funding Opportunities

The CDMRP released four (4) more FY 19 Program Funding Opportunities  this week.  They include: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Program,  Breast Cancer Research Program, and Combat Casualty Care Research Program.  The funding mechanisms are as follows.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Program

Therapeutic Development Award
Support for independent investigators at all levels for research on the post-discovery, preclinical development of therapeutics for ALS.

Pre-Application: March 22, 2019 
Pre-Application is required; Full application submission is by invitation only.
Application: July 25, 2019

Therapeutic Idea Award 

Support for independent investigators at all levels in screening methods or new ideas aimed at ALS drug or treatment discovery still in the early stages of development.

Breast Cancer Research Program

Breakthrough Award Levels 1 and 2
Investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent) - Supports promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. Level 1 maximum funding:  $450,000     
Level 2 maximum funding: $1M

Breakthrough Award Level 3
Investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent) - Supports promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. Maximum funding: $3M

Breakthrough Award Level 4

Investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent) - Supports promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer.  Maximum funding: $10M

Era of Hope Scholar Award
For independent, non-mentored investigator within 6 years of his/her last training position.  Supports exceptionally talented, early career scientists who have demonstrated that they are the “best and brightest” in their fields through extraordinary creativity, vision, innovation, and productivity.

Innovator Award
For Associate Professor or above (or equivalent).  Supports visionary individuals who have demonstrated creativity, innovative work, and leadership in any field.

Confidential Letters of Recommendation Submission Deadline:June 18, 2019

Distinguished Investigator Award
At or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) and be more than 6 years beyond their last mentored position as of the application submission
deadline.  Supports established visionary leaders from any field to pursue innovative ideas that could accelerate progress toward ending breast cancer.

Breakthrough Fellowship Award

As of the application submission deadline, all eligible PIs must have:
• Successfully completed the requirements for a doctoral or medical degree, and
• Been in the laboratory or clinical research setting in which the proposed research is to be performed for no more than 2 years, and 
• A total of less than 4 years’ experience in a postdoctoral fellowship or mentored clinical research training program (excludes any clinical residency or fellowship training).

Supports exceptionally talented, “best and brightest” recent doctoral or medical graduates in pursuit of innovative, high-impact breast cancer research.

Combat Casualty Care Research Program

FY19 Multi-Domain Lifesaving Trauma Innovations (MuLTI) Award
Independent investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent).  Supports development of highlight innovative materiel products and new ways, methods, or modifications of existing trauma practice (i.e., knowledge products) for future multi-domain operations (MDO) where evacuation capabilities may be significantly delayed or unavailable.
