NIH is releasing a notice (NOT-OD-19-108) announcing that beginning October 1, 2019, T15, T32, T90/R90, and TL1  training grant recipients will be required to use the xTRACT system in eRA Commons to prepare the required data tables for annual progress reports (RPPRs) due on or after October 1, 2019.  This applies to progress reports for both pre -and post-doctoral research training grants and will encompass AHRQ training grants as well.  Tables not created for progress reports through the xTRACT system will be non-compliant and funding may be delayed until the tables are in compliance.

Those creating data tables for new or renewal applications are encouraged to use xTRACT now to gain experience as the system, while not mandatory in FY 2020, may be mandatory in future years.

NIH has provided the following xTRACT resources to learn the system:

Overview of xTRACT - A high level overview of the xTract module, including its purpose, its key features and benefits as well as additional resources.

Online Help - Online user documentation for the xTract module, including screenshots and step-by-step instructions. This information can also be accessed by clicking the question marks on the module’s screens.

User Guide - A PDF version of the online help, useful for those who would like to print the entire help.

FAQs - Frequently asked questions about the module

Questions about this notice and how to use the module can be addressed to Beth Schilling, Sr Sponsored Programs Analyst, in the Office of Sponsored Programs.
