American College of Cardiology Quality Initiatives/Performance Improvement Proposal

Focus areas of desired projects or proposals include those that support cardiovascular quality improvement of cardiovascular care and patient outcomes that:

• contribute to the evidence base for accreditation
• develop or evaluate cardiovascular quality initiatives that strengthen the accreditation process
• provide opportunities for education that support quality or performance improvement projects
• improve EMS systems of care in collaboration with community hospitals providing accreditation services
• provide public health education to improve community measures/outcomes related to early recognition of heart attack symptoms and appropriate action steps

Example projects include those that:

• Support scholarly or creative work that further the principles of cardiovascular patient care performance improvement using ACC accreditation data
• Convene educational symposia
• Sponsor lectures
• Advance cardiovascular care
• Establish heart safe communities to promote Early Heart Attack Care
• Fund low performing hospitals and or critical access hospitals that seek ACC accreditation.

The scope of proposed projects will be determined by the ACC's Accreditation Foundation Board and may vary from year to year. In general, proposed projects will be expected to be completed within 12 months of award notification, unless otherwise explicitly stated in the posted request for proposals.

Foundation for Child Development Young Scholars Program

The Young Scholars Program (YSP) supports scholarship for early career researchers. The program funds implementation research that is policy and practice-relevant and that examines the preparation, competency, compensation, well-being, and on-going professional learning of the early care and education (ECE) workforce.

The Foundation regards diversity as an asset for building a strong and productive society and is committed to diversity and equity in scholarship and through our grantees. To increase the diversity of research perspectives, the Foundation encourages applications from:

• Scholars who are from underrepresented groups that have historically experienced economic instability and social exclusion, including, but not limited to: researchers of color, first-generation college graduates, culturally and linguistically diverse scholars, and researchers from low-income communities
• Scholars who represent a variety of disciplines and methodological approaches

Young Eligible Scholars must have received their doctoral degrees (e.g., PhD, EdD, PsyD, JD, etc.) between January 1, 2011, and June 30, 2019. Physician applicants must have received their MD degrees between January 1, 2008, and June 30, 2019. The affiliated private nonprofit organization must have a minimum operating budget of $2.5 million and a minimum three-year track record in conducting multiyear research projects (at least three over the last three years).

RFP for Development of Clinical Quality Measures to Improve Diagnosis

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to provide assistance in the form of grants for the development of innovative clinical quality measures (defined in Appendix B) that promote excellence in diagnosis of three categories of disease – acute vascular events, infections and cancer.

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the date of close of this Request for Proposals has been extended to Tuesday, June 30th, 2020. The required in-person meeting for semi-finalists, by invitation only, will now take place in Palo Alto, CA on Monday, August 17th, 2020.

Career Development Grant

The Career Development Award Program is designed to foster the development of outstanding, early-career scientists currently working abroad so that they may fulfill their potential and make significant contributions to their field of research in Italy. The Award provides $200,000 per year, for 3-5 years, to young scientists to establish their own lab at a host institute in which they can conduct independent research in the biological sciences.

Transthyretin Cardiac Amyloidosis Fellowship Competitive Grant Program

Pfizer has the intent to support institutions with fellowship programs for Cardiologists that have a strong focus on clinical practice, research, and education to further the understanding of transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis.  Grant funding is available to support one fellow for up to a year at $80,000. The budget can include salary and support of the fellow benefits. There is a total budget of $240,000 for this program.
