CDMRP Announce FY20 ALS Funding

The FY20 Defense Appropriations Act providing funding to the Department of Defense ALSRP to support innovative and impactful research to develop new treatments for ALS. 

Therapeutic Development Award
Independent investigators at all levels

  • Supports pre-clinical secondary validation and IND-enabling studies of therapeutics for ALS.
  • Preliminary data are required

$1 million direct costs for 3 years
Required Pre-Application Due:  March 27, 2020 at 5:00 pm ET
Application Due:     July 23, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET

Therapeutic Idea Award
Independent investigators at all levels

  • Supports hypothesis-driven pre-clinical therapeutic development. 
  • Preliminary data are not required

$500,000 direct costs for 2 years
Required Pre-Application Due:  March 27, 2020 at 5:00 pm ET
Application Due:     July 23, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET

Therapeutic Idea Award - Therapeutic Relevant Biomarker Option
Independent investigators at all levels

  • Applications which include the development of biomarkers in parallel with the main therapeutic advancement effort
  • Supports hypothesis-driven pre-clinical therapeutic development. 
  • Preliminary data are not required

$600,000 direct costs for 2 years
Required Pre-Application Due:  March 27, 2020 at 5:00 pm ET
Application Due:     July 23, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET

Clinical Development Award
Independent investigators at all levels

  • Supports leveraging of human-based ALS resources through correlative clinical research.
  • Early Career Investigators and/or Early Career Physician Scientists are encouraged to apply.

$300,000 direct costs for 2 years.
Required Pre-Application Due:  March 27, 2020 at 5:00 pm ET
Application Due:     July 23, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET
