Daily, June 8th – June 12th noon to 1:00

The Chief Research office and UTMB CTSA in collaboration with UTMB infectious disease research community will host a virtual workshop to facilitate learning and discussion around critical research questions related to COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual workshop will bring together an expert panel of UTMB researchers to share their opinions about critical issues and the opportunities that UTMB investigators have to collaborate to create new research projects aimed at tackling the pandemic.

The multi-day workshop will highlight the current research gaps and help to establish an open research community at UTMB that supports the development of new clinical and translational research projects that improve the current understanding of SARS-CoV-2. This understanding includes how SAR-CoV-2 causes disease as well as the development of strategies for the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of COVID-19 infection.  Specifically, the workshop provides an opportunity for UTMB research community to learn more about:

  • The COVID-19 patients that have been seen at UTMB and complexities encountered by our clinicians;
  • The scope of current SARS-CoV-2 research activities at UTMB;
  • Emerging research questions and the opportunities for creating partnerships and multidisciplinary collaborative teams for addressing them; and
