The following announcements will open on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. 

Broad Pragmatic Studies Funding Announcement -- Cycle 1 2022

Starting in Cycle 1, 2022, PCORI will combine the Broad PCORI Funding Announcement (PFA) and Pragmatic Clinical Studies (PCS) PFA into a single PFA.  The new PFA covers the following four priority areas: Addressing Disparities; Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment Options; Communication and Dissemination Research; and Improving Healthcare Systems. These broad areas encompass the patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) that PCORI has long supported. 


This targeted PCORI Funding Announcement (Targeted PFA) seeks to fund randomized controlled trials or observational studies that focus on comparative clinical effectiveness of interventions targeting mental health in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This Targeted PFA preannouncement is provided to allow potential applicants additional time to identify collaborators; obtain stakeholder input on potential studies; and develop responsive, high-quality proposals.

 

Prevention, Early Identification, and Treatment of Delirium in Older Adults -- Cycle 1 2022

Seeking to fund high-quality, comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) projects that focus on the prevention, early identification, and treatment of delirium in older adults.

 

Improving Methods for Conducting Patient-Centered Outcomes Research -- Cycle 1 2022

PCORI aims to fund studies that address high-priority methodological gaps in patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) and comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER), address important methodological gaps and lead to improvements in the strength and quality of evidence and improve methods in the following priority areas:

  • The Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in Clinical Research
  • Improve Study Design
  • Support Data Research Networks
  • Ethical and Human Subjects Protections Issues in PCOR/CER
