Research Ethics Workshop: How to Submit to the IRB

All human subject research conducted at UTMB must be reviewed by the Institutional Review Board. In this session, we will discuss 1) the definition of “human subject research” 2) the IRB process and expectations and 3) the importance of ethics in human subject research.

Bio: As a bioethics scholar with a background in philosophy, law, and the social sciences, Dr. Smith works on projects in research ethics, research integrity, and public health ethics. As the Director of the Research Ethics Consultation Service at UTMB, Dr. Smith aims to create an environment that enables ethical decision-making through openness, ongoing discussion, tailored training, and research regarding research ethics and integrity concerns.
