Kenneth J. Ottenbacher, PhD, OTR has been selected to receive The Excellence in Rehabilitation of Aging Persons Award for 2020 at the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting. The award acknowledges outstanding contributions in the field of rehabilitation of aging individuals. A lecture in the name of this award is part of the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting Online and will feature an address by Dr. Ottenbacher. The lecture will take place Thursday, November 5, 2020, from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m., followed by a live Q&A session.

Dr. Ottenbacher is the Russell Shearn Moody Distinguished Chair in Neurological Rehabilitation; Professor & Director, Division of Rehabilitation Sciences; Associate Director, Center for Recovery, Physical Activity and Nutrition; and the Associate Director, Sealy Center on Aging. He has investigated clinical and community rehabilitation outcomes with a focus on functional assessment, frailty, disability and recovery in older adults. He is the author/co-author of over 400 articles in refereed scientific journals (h-index = 59 based on the Scopus database). His research has received continuous federal funding as PI since 1984. He is currently the PI for three NIH grants (R01, P2C and K12) and MPI for a T32 grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
