The UTMB Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center (OAIC) is the home of a diverse multidisciplinary team of investigators with complementary research interests. The Center supports investigators, research, and expertise in gerontology to accomplish the OAIC mission: To Improve Physical Function and Independence in Older Adults.

Dr. Wong Joins NIH Working Group of the Council on Behavioral & Social Sciences Research (BSSR) Integration

Rebeca Wong, PhD has been invited by the chair of the NIH Council of Councils to join a newly formed working group of the Council on Behavioral & Social Sciences Research (BSSR) Integration. This special advisory panel of behavioral scientists and other community experts was convened to complete an assessment and provide recommendations on how to better integrate and realize the benefits to overall health from behavioral research at NIH.

Dr. Wong is Associate Director of SCOA and Peaches & Shrub Kempner Distinguished Professor in Health Disparities, Department of Preventive Medicine and Population Health. She is Director, WHO/ PAHO Collaborating Center on Aging and Health and Associate Director, Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center.
