The UTMB Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center (OAIC) is the home of a diverse multidisciplinary team of investigators with complementary research interests. The Center supports investigators, research, and expertise in gerontology to accomplish the OAIC mission: To Improve Physical Function and Independence in Older Adults.

Dr. Al Snih Selected for Distinguished Teaching Award

Soham Al Snih, MD, PhD was selected by the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) at the recent Commencement of the Graduation School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) at UTMB to receive the 2021 Distinguished Teacher Award.

Dr. Al Snih is a professor in the Division of Rehabilitation Sciences and serves as director of the Rehabilitation Sciences Graduate Program and the Master of Science in Health Professions Program. Dr. Al Snih directs and contributes to multiple courses within the GSBS, School of Medicine, and School of Health Professions, including classes on rehabilitation sciences, aging and health, and patient-centered outcomes research, among other topics. Dr. Al Snih's students recognize her for her passion for teaching and her support as a mentor and leader, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of Dr. Al Snih's continuous support and commitment to her students, the GSO is pleased to honor her with this award.
