Time flies. Halloween has come and gone, it's November and the holidays will be here in the blink of an eye. We like the idea of an abbreviated SECC. We know it's easier on our busy campus community, confining the activity to a couple of weeks rather than a month+ of messaging and cajoling we've done in past years. But the deadline shows up quickly in an abbreviated campaign, and here we are with less than a week to go and about $240,000 raised. We're grateful for the support, but we're still well short of the $378,000 we raised last year.
It makes you wonder who might be making do with less this year? Which charities and agencies will end up with funding gaps and fewer resources, if we end up significantly shy of our past support? Food banks, social services, education, health care and animal causes are among the charitable groups favored by our UTMB community. They all need the help, especially now when life is so fluid and things are changing so quickly.
