Neuroscience and neuroanatomy, Acquired Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Orthotics and Prosthetics

Research Interests

Outcome measurement in individuals with neurologic impairments, care delivery for individuals with disorders of consciousness, educational models and clinical readiness for physical therapy students, community reintegration post neurologic injury

Biography

R. Lucas Burns, PT, DPT, NCS is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from UTMB in 2018 then went on to complete a clinical residency in neurologic physical therapy through TIRR Memorial Hermann in 2019. He is a Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist and continues his clinical practice with TIRR Memorial Hermann treating a wide variety of patients with complex diagnoses and impairment.
