John Sealy SOM Office of Admissions & Recruitment

The Office of Recruitment & Student Support Services supports the non-academic activities of medical students along with educational outreach initiatives within UTMB, the local community, regionally, and nationally. During the academic calendar year, students make recruitment visits to several colleges and university campuses, and attend various regional and national conferences.

In concert with recruitment outreach, the Office conducts tours, formal presentations about the admissions process, and the medical school curriculum for prospective students visiting the UTMB campus.

There are various opportunities and organizations that medical students can choose to participate in during their tenure as a student at UTMB. Students have the opportunity to participate in medical fraternities, student organizations, community outreach and much more. As you explore the opportunities for medical students, realize the sky is the limit. "Carpe Diem" as students say at UTMB!

    Spring Premedical Conference
UTMB annually hosts a Premedical Conference for junior and senior premedical students. Students visit our facility and meet with faculty and medical students. Several workshops are included that focus on the admissions process, preparation for medical school, the MCAT, selecting a medical school, selection process, and life as a medical student.

    Night Before Social
Our current UTMB students host a reception for prospective students interviewing at UTMB the evening before the interviews to provide an informal environment to interact with current medical students, answer questions regarding the interview process and learn about life as a medical student.

    Annual Phone-A-Thon
Annually, current medical students make phone calls to any of the applicants who have interviewed at UTMB in order to answer their questions about the campus, curriculum, or student life in general.

    UTMB Tours and Presentations
UTMB provides tours for prospective students year-round by request. During the tour, students are able to visit our Gross Anatomy Lab, UTMB hospitals, and the Standardized Patient Center. In addition, students can request a presentation on Life at UTMB or a Career in Medicine. All requests must be submitted 30 days in advance.
