Mobile Mammography Sunday Program

UTMB offers ‘Sunday Screenings’ - Free Screening Mammograms for women in our community

UTMB Health and The Ruth Kempner Endowment for Breast Cancer Screening are partnering to provide free screening mammograms for uninsured women in our community. The Susan G. Komen foundation has stated that a significant amount of uninsured women in Galveston County are not receiving their annual screening mammograms. In an effort to reach these uninsured women, UTMB Health is bringing the mobile mammography van to churches in Galveston County.

The screenings are being offered:

  • Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017
    New Vision Baptist Church
    2311 24th St.
    Dickinson, Texas 77539
    Phone: (803) 479-1824
*Return the completed application and consent form no later than Oct. 30.
  • Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017
    St. Vincent's House
    2817 Postoffice St.
    Galveston, Texas 77550
    Phone: (214) 532-4792
*Return the completed application and consent form no later than Nov. 3.
  • Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017
    Arcadia Christian Church
    14201 Beriton St.
    Santa Fe, Texas 77517
    Phone (409) 925-3551
*Return the completed application and consent form no later than Nov. 6.

Although these events are being hosted at local churches, uninsured program participants do not need to be members of these church congregations in order to receive a free screening mammogram. The mobile van will provide free screening mammograms for pre registered uninsured women from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants need to PRE REGISTER for the program and have to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legal resident of Galveston County
  • Over 40 years of age
  • Uninsured
  • Participants cannot have mammogram coverage
through any insurance including Medicaid and/or Medicare
  • Not pregnant
  • Have not received a mammogram in the past 12 months
  • No personal history of breast cancer in the past 5 years
  • No current breast pain, breast discharge, or palpable breast abnormality
  • Must complete and sign the application and consent forms

To enroll in this program, please pick up a registration packet from any of the church offices; from the UTMB Galveston Breast Imaging Department (2nd floor of the University Hospital Clinics Building); or the UTMB League City Campus, Breast Health Center waiting room (2nd floor). You may also download here in English or Spanish, and return these items to any of these locations no later than the dates specified for each location.
