Web Accessibility at UTMB

At UTMB Health, we pride ourselves on our diversity, compassion and professionalism. Our websites, business applications, email and documents, such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and PDFs are no different.

Thoughtfully designing our documents, communications and applications with universal access in mind is not only required by law, but an extension of our core mission, vision, values and goals. This is how we design for diversity in technology.

Web Standards and Requirements

As a component of UT System and state-funded government agency, UTMB must comply with the standards and regulations set forth by UT System, Texas DIR, Section 508, WCAG 2.0 and our own UTMB Web Accessibility Practice Standard.

Essentially, UTMB web sites and content must adhere to the standards and specifications defined by the WCAG 2.0 Guidelines and Section 508 Requirements. Both the WCAG 2.0 and Section 508 specifications must be reviewed, understood, tested for and implemented for all web-based content.

Web Accessibility Checklists

For your convenience, we've collected these accessibility checklists which you can use to design and test your site's accessibility. These checklists outline the types of concerns we need to be familiar with and cater too.
