The UTMB Web BlogTips, tech and news for the UTMB web community

Important web change and upcoming learning opportunities

I shared a message with our web admins about a few important events coming up. That message (with some updates) is below:

iUTMB going intranet-only: On Wednesday, July 25,  the university’s internal home page will become available exclusively via our intranet. iUTMB is the university’s internal home page for faculty, staff and students; it serves up a long list of commonly referenced links and employee/student news. Although iUTMB is designed for our internal audience, it is currently available to the public. The change next week will enhance web performance and improve security and reliability. Users on the UTMB network (or logged in via our VPN) will not notice a difference; page visitors outside our network will see a new public portal.

TechTalk:  Our next TechTalk—scheduled for July 24 at noon in Levin Hall South—will feature an overview of Select Survey and Poll Everywhere, two free-to-use applications that make it easy to get feedback from your customers and audiences. Attendees can expect a brief overview of each tool, instructions on how to access and use them, and will see interactive demonstrations.

Sitefinity Training: Upcoming classes will offer an introduction to the Sitefinity Content Management System (CMS), UTMB’s primary web publishing platform. The classes are for all UTMB website developers, designers, content authors and editors working in or with an interest in the Sitefinity CMS. The two-hour intro training session is free, but class size is limited and registration is required. Our sessions in July and August are now full, and we're looking for dates for additional classes in September.
