Four in the hunt for District 29 position

 Pearland News, Dec. 1, 2006http://www.hcnonline.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17530744&BRD=1574&PAG=461&dept_id=532247&rfi=6 The governor has set Tuesday, Dec. 19, for the special election to fill late State Rep. Glenda Dawson's seat in District 29. According to the secretary of state's office, as of the filing deadline Monday at 5 p.m., four Pearlanders had thrown their hats into the ring: Democrat Anthony DiNovo, Dawson's original opponent, and Republicans John Gorman, Mike O'Day and Randy Weber. DiNovo, 39, a doctor, has served as an associate professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and now works for the Alvin Community Health Endeavor, which provides healthcare to uninsured and under-insured residents.
